Cooper was up and at ’em early this morning for his first cross country practice of his sophomore year. He set his alarm for 6:51am, made himself a breakfast of eggs and GF toast, and headed to the high school at 7:45 for the 8am start.
And he was ready! He’s been spending some time on the track in the last few weeks getting himself trained up for the season. Cooper is a dedicated athlete and quite knowledgeable about all things fitness. He also enjoys all things fashion {being mentored by our friend, the ultra-cool Jerry A.}, so he was MORE than eager to go shoe shopping yesterday. Unfortunately, Dad went along, too, and could really care less about fashion. There was a bit of a clash over one’s desire for coolness and the other’s desire for arch support.
Last year Coop’s shoes were neon green. This year compromised on the very cool, yet supportive red Nike Flex. {Sorry, Nike Lunar!}
Coop also got the awesome black Nike Dri-Fit socks ~ because you simply can NOT have your leg sweat dripping into your running shoes. He’s trying to talk Dad out of his very uncool ankle length running socks.
His practice went well this morning. There was a half-gallon of chocolate milk waiting for him when he got home. He’ll repeat his workout again this afternoon from 3-5pm with a little time in the weight room as well!
Can’t wait to see how he does this season. Something tells me, he’s ready to really compete!
Stayed tuned for someone else who’s rockin’ some running shoes around here today…
Cooper is a standout in his red shoes! What color are your running shoes, Mel? Love and blue skies from K&J
I am a long time reader. I have no kids of my own so I enjoy reading about yours and watching them grow. 🙂
My running shoes are pink, of course. {and silver!}
And hello long-time reader! Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
